History
Leopard 2 entered service in 1979 as Germany’s Chobham-era tank. A6 added the L/55; A7/A7V added protection, climate, and urban kits. Exported as the default Western MBT outside the U.S. Combat debut of 2A6 in Ukraine in 2023.
Doctrine
The Bundeswehr’s high-end duel tank: long L/55 gun, digital fire control, and modular armor for high-intensity war in Europe. Crew of four, bustle autoloader refused — same survivability bet as Abrams.
