History
Debut at Kursk was a mechanical disaster. Later Ausf. G tanks were lethal at range — the L/70 out-penetrated the Tiger’s 88 at typical combat distances. Roughly 6,000 built, still too few and too late.
Doctrine
Germany’s attempt at a universal tank after meeting the T-34. Panzer divisions were supposed to rebuild around it. Final-drive failures and fuel shortages meant many sat instead of maneuvering.
